John Connor [Celluloid 10.17.17] scifi action thriller adventure

We've got some big Samurai Jack fans in the ranks here so I'm sure this complete series set will bring a tear to a few eyes.

The complete series is about a samurai sent through time who must fight to return home and save the world. This Blu-ray set is comprised of all five seasons of the hit Adult Swim show. You can also get the 5th season separately if you already own the previous season.

Also out this week is Spiderman Homecoming, the latest blockbusting superhero movie from Marvel Studios. They finally got Spidey on loan from Sony and made short work of putting the young webslinger to good use in a film that people seemed to like. I didn't see it myself so I can't comment on it much.

This new 4K release of Serenity should make Firefly fans happy. The cancelled series continues to be a fan favorite after all these years which is pretty crazy. This edition retains all the special features from the collector's DVD from years back.

Kino Classics restores Rawhead Rex, a lost Clive Barker midnighter directed by monster guy George Pavlou (Little Devils: The Birth, Transmutations).

Believe it or not this is a 4K restoration in a set packed with new interviews and bonus material.

Bring it on!

Twin Peaks came back for a third and likely final season this year and the new season completely hinged on David Lynche's feature film "Fire Walk with Me."

Here Criterion gives the film the royal treatment it deserves in a new Blu-ray release befitting Lynch's vision.

Starz spent big on this ambitious adaptation of Neil Gaiman's American Gods. I hear it's a pretty crazy and divisive show, so tickle me intrigued.

Have you ever been to one of those popular escape rooms? This is like that, but as a horror movie.

Another Criterion collection release sees Stanley Kubrick's Barry Lyndon hitting Blu-ray.

Adapted from a novel by William Makepeace Thackeray in picaresque detail, Barry Lyndon chronicles the adventures of an incorrigible trickster (Ryan O’Neal) whose opportunism takes him from an Irish farm to the battlefields of the Seven Years’ War and the parlors of high society.
