Marina Antunes [Celluloid 10.06.17] scifi thriller

Keanu Reeves has the worst luck in movies. People, and pets, just keep dying on him! It's hard not to feel bad for guy and in his latest, the sci-fi thriller Replicas, he's trying to get over dead people. Again.

Reeves stars as Will Foster, a scientist who becomes obsessed with bringing back his family after an accident kills his wife and two kids. His obsession leads him to make some questionable decisions and bend, if not completely break, more than a few rules by creating a bunch of clones. This causes not only his colleagues to raise questions but when his wife's clone discovers what's going on, things really go sideways for Dr. Foster.

Along with Reeves, the movie stars Alice Eve, John Ortiz and Thomas Middleditch.

This looks like fairly standard dramatic fare with some cool gadgets and technology and we'll have to wait and see if writer Chad St. John (The Punisher: Dirty Laundy, London Has Fallen) manages to get at anything new and interesting with his particular take on the cloning but at least we have Reeves to look forward to.

Replicas doesn't currently have a release date.
