Marina Antunes [Celluloid 08.08.17] Poland horror comedy thriller

Marcin Wrona's Demon first made a splash when it had its US premiere at Fantastic Fest in 2015 and it has continued to make the festival rounds since then, eventually landing at TIFF in 2016 before being picked up for distribution.

Now, nearly 2 years since it first made its appearance in North America, Wrona's thriller is finally getting a release and with it comes an amazing trailer.

Described as a "clever take" on a Jewish legend, Demon is the story of a man who finds human remains while renovating his summer house and then becomes possessed by an evil spirit on his wedding day to somewhat horrific results.

At least the trailer suggests horrific though by all accounts, this is more of a psychological thriller than an all out horror movie and what's more, it's also a comedy?! I'm not sure where the laughs come in as the trailer is anything but funny, but I'm always game for a good surprise.

Demon will be available on home video and streaming on August 29.
