Marina Antunes [Cathode Ray Mission 04.21.17] scifi drama mystery

Last year's "The X-Files" revival brought with it both good and bad. It was great to see Scully and Mulder back at it, solving cases, asking questions and generally just being awesome as more seasoned agents dragged into more of the weird shenanigans that brought them together in the first place.

Though I enjoyed the limited series, the run felt a bit vacant, like Carter brought the characters together to test the waters but didn't have a really clear sense of an overall story arch and as a result, the episodes felt, to this fan at least, disjointed and superficial and missing the secret ingredient that made the original series so great.

That said, it seems the return of the series performed above expectation for the studio and Fox has announced that they're bringing "The X-Files" back once again, this time for a 10 episode run in the 2017-2018 TV season.

Likely helping the decision to move ahead with more episodes is the fact that David Duchovny doesn't currently have a show on the air, the first revival was the best work Chris Carter has done in a while and the network is in need of a drama in their line-up. Gillian Anderson is the odd one out in this equation; these days, she's busier than ever.
