John Connor [Celluloid 03.20.17] post apocalyptic horror action fantasy western adventure

There's a part of me that still can't believe this movie is actually happening. Do we really live in a time when Stephen King's massive Dark Tower series could become its own cinematic universe? For me, this is would be the ultimate antidote to comic book universes which have dominated for the last decade.

The first teaser poster has dropped and instead of going for a western theme as you night expect given the details of the narrative in the first book, The Gunslinger, it's going for more of a, dare I say it, Inception vibe.

The Dark Tower series tells the story of Roland Deschain, Mid-World’s last gunslinger, who is traveling southeast across Mid-World’s post-apocalyptic landscape, searching for the powerful but elusive magical edifice known as The Dark Tower.

Located in the fey region of End-World, amid a sea of singing red roses, the Dark Tower is the nexus point of the time-space continuum. It is the heart of all worlds, but it is also under threat. Someone, or something, is using the evil technology of the Great Old Ones to destroy it.

Idris Elba, Tom Taylor and Matthew McConaughey star in the film directed by Nikolaj Arcel. Abbey Lee, Fran Kranz, Jackie Earle Haley, Katheryn Winnick and Claudia Kiim co-star.

The Dark Tower hits this summer, July 28.

That is not a good poster

It lacks creativity it shows nothing about the film and looks to close to other posters of other films.

It's a joke.

I really hope that this movie isn't shallow or cheesy.

So this is a sequel? Wouldn't that make it a prequel also?
