Christopher Webster [Cathode Ray Mission 06.20.16] scifi thriller western

It's amazing to me how well good ideas travel. Take Westworld for example, the new HBO sci-fi series about artificial beings and a VR wonderland where people's fantasies can play out unfettered. With VR hitting consumers in a big way only this year, it seems like the most timely notion. And yet, the show is inspired by an idea for a 1973 film written by Michael Crichton.

This kind of thing makes you wonder if the idea inspired the evolution of our technology, or is tech influences our stories. I suppose the relationship is fluid.

At any rate, here we have the first trailer for Westworld a production that, if you believe the press swirling around it, has been troubled. Production was shut down, though we don't know why.

HBO needs a hit show in a big way, and by all accounts Westworld looks like a front runner. It's gorgeous with a great cast and it's got that prescient idea at its core.

This is looking damn good to me.

Hey they do. Game of Thrones is winding down and none of their new shows have hit. They are desperate for a hit right now. It's widely reported on.
