One of the standout indie releases of the new year is definitely Road Games, a UK/French co-production that was recently released into theaters and on VOD by IFC Films. I found the film to be incredibly well made and suspenseful with a core mystery that will keep audiences guessing what's around the corner.

After screening the film I connected with the film's writer/director, Abner Pastoll, to talk about the details (specifically to learn the title of one of the film's songs), and the conversation ended up with us getting on Skype to record this podcast.

After a disastrous summer trip, Jack finds himself hitchhiking through the sun-drenched rural French countryside with nothing but his British passport. Unaware of dangers that are plaguing the roads, he tries without much success to get home. Along the way, he partners up with another hitchhiker, a beautiful French girl, Véronique.

But when they accept a ride from a local oddball (Frédéric Pierrot), the pair finds themselves thrown in a deadly game of cat and mouse in which nothing is what it seems. Bursting with nonstop twists and turns and an undercurrent of Hitchcockian malice, this riveting psychological thriller is a hell of a ride.
