John Connor [Celluloid 01.18.16] horror

The first trailer for the highly anticipated Southbound has finally hit the internet. If you haven't already heard of Southbound, it's the latest horror anthology from producers Roxanne Benjamin and Brad Miska, who both conceived of and produced the uber successful V/H/S trilogy.

Whatever your opinions of VHS, I would suggest you leave the at the door before deciding whether to seek out Southbound. we had the chance to see the film prior to its February 9 release and it's nothing like those films. It is a much more polished film that I think pushes the limits of what anthology films have been doing recently.

Southbound also has a wonderful Twilight Zone vibe which gives it terrifying dream logic that I've been missing from modern horror.

The film was shot by four directors including Roxanne Benjamin (V/H/S), David Bruckner (The Signal), Patrick Horvath and Radio Silence.

Southbound will have a limited theatrical run starting on February 5 before its release on VOD on February 9.

Recommended Release: V/H/S 2
