John Connor [Cathode Ray Mission 08.20.15] post apocalyptic zombies horror

Remember when Rick Grimes - as our audience proxy - made us miss the outbreak when he slept through the whole zombie apocalypse in that hospital in the premier of The Walking Dead? Thanks, Rick! Well, Fear the Walking Dead, which premieres this Sunday, August 23 at 9 PM on AMC, will tell us what happened in LA at the time of the outbreak. We'll be there. You'll be there. It's going to be an apocalypse party.

The first promo trailer was great, but these opening minutes do a great job to set the tone of The Walking Dead spin-off.

Living in the same universe as The Walking Dead, Fear the Walking Dead is a gritty drama that explores the onset of the undead apocalypse through the lens of a fractured family.

Set in a city where people come to escape, shield secrets, and bury their pasts, a mysterious outbreak threatens to disrupt what little stability high school guidance counselor Madison Clark (Kim Dickens) and English teacher Travis Manawa (Cliff Curtis) have managed to assemble. The everyday pressure of blending two families while dealing with resentful, escapist, and strung out children takes a back seat when society begins to break down. A forced evolution, a necessary survival of the fittest takes hold, and our dysfunctional family must either reinvent themselves or embrace their darker histories.

I've spent the last week binge watching TWD from season 1 to get ready for some new Walking Dead.

As a fan of the comic I think I'll always care more about the original. Still, hugely looking forward to new stories, less trees and learning more about the world.
