John Connor [Celluloid 08.17.15] scifi thriller

It seems that when you're Ridley Scott, director of the first Alien film and launcher of a hit franchise, you get to have your way, even when it comes to cursory projects related to the Alien universe. Last week we reported that Scott's Prometheus 2 could shoot as early as January 2016, which raised some question about how that could affect Neill Blomkamp's Alien 5 project. Well, now it seems like we have our answer.

According to an industry insider, “Alien 5 is still very much in the works, as Fox remains hot on the idea. Blomkamp continues to work on the script and refine the tale he is telling. Ridley Scott is still producing but has insisted on Prometheus 2 being made first.”

Once Prometheus 2 is done and done, Blomkamp will reportedly shoot his film sometime in 2017, and Fox will release it into theaters the following year.

Let's be honest, Blomkamp could probably use the extra time getting the script right.
