Blumhouse Productions, Universal and Focus Features have come to the rescue of Eli Roth’s seemingly doomed The Green Inferno (our review here) with news the film will see a theatrical run on Sept. 25, 2015.

The film sold to Open Road two years ago at TIFF and then was shelved. Now, it will appear on approximately 1,000 screens. Open Road is said to be no longer involved.

"BH Tilt is a forward-thinking label that is helping to redefine how genre movies can be released," said Roth who is is obviously happy about the news. "I want to express my deep gratitude to the fans for their incredible support of this movie and to everyone at Blumhouse and Universal for making sure fans can experience the film in theaters across the country.”

Roth co-wrote the screenplay from his original idea with “Aftershock” co-writer Guillermo Amoedo.
