Marina Antunes [Cathode Ray Mission 05.04.15] United Kingdom thriller mystery

Autumn 1977. Peggy Hodgson, a single mother, calls police who arrive at her rented house in Enfield, a suburb of London. She claims furniture in the house is moved by an unseen entity. The constable in attendance confirms she saw a chair move but couldn't say if it moved on its own or if it was pushed across the room. That call was only the first of many to follow as the unassuming house became the most widely reported on and investigated case of poltergeist activity in British history.

Over the years, many have claimed that the events of the so-called Enfield Poltergeist have no merit but Society for Psychical Research members Maurice Grosse and Guy Lyon Playfair did find the haunting genuine and Playfair even went on to write a book on the subject which is the basis of a new three part miniseries that premiered this past weekend on Sky TV in the UK.

"The Enfield Haunting" stars Rosie Cavaliero as Peggy Hodgson, the great Timothy Spall as Maurice Grosse, Juliet Stevenson as his wife Betty and Matthew Macfadyen as Guy Lyon Playfair. Kristoffer Nyholm, best known for his work on the Danish series "The Killing," directs the affair so you know that aside from looking fantastic, and with this cast, it should include some great drama.

Fingers crossed we get to see this at some point because it's looking pretty darn creepy. Perhaps even better, and a great primer, is the hour long documentary which was produced around the time of the events and which is included below.

"The Enfield Haunting" premiered Sunday, May 3. Check the official website for more air dates.
