horror comedy romance Brothers Ben and Chris Blaine are the latest in a tradition of filmmaking siblings with sights set on making a splash this side of the water and if the first look at their debut feature Nina Forever is any indication, they're well on their way.
The BIFA nominated, BAFTA shortlisted duo successfully funded their Kickstarter for the movie in 2013 and now Nina Forever is getting ready to premiere at SXSW where it is likely to make a big splash. They call it "darkly amusing" though all I see in this first trailer for the movie is the dark and, OK, there is a hint of a comedic element built into the story about Holly (Abi Hardingham), a young woman who is crushing on Rob (Cian Barry) except whenever the pair have sex, Rob's dead ex-girlfriend Nina ("Utopia" star Fiona O'Shaughnessy) turns up. And she doesn't just appear. She appears as a mess of blood and grossness.
I love the trailer and I've been itching to see O'Shaughnessy in another role. I'm already pretty impressed with what I've seen but If the Blaine Brothers manage to eek out a couple of laughs, I'll be doubly impressed.
Nina Forever premieres at SXSW March 14.
