Marina Antunes [Celluloid 02.13.15] post apocalyptic drama

A sex toy company is producing a movie. Why am I writing about it here? Because it's a post apocalyptic love story. I. Kid. You. Not.

LELO, one of the world's leading manufacturers of sex toys, is producing Beyond the Wave, a film starring Casper Van Dien of Starship Troopers fame, Emilie Ohana and newcomer Zhu Wei Ling, which unfolds in a futuristic world where men and women choose to live apart.

From the movie's press kit:

A chance meeting with the young Noria (Ling) sparks an unforgettable journey for Jacques (Van Dien), one that shows him the importance of understanding another's perspective. On the surface it's a love story, but deeper than that, it's a reminder on how to enrich relationships in an increasingly individualistic and divided world.

The trailer for the movie made its way online earlier this week and it's a beautiful affair directed by Goran Gajic (kudos to reader CLeverTrever for the info). And though I'd expect this to be a really well produced short, the press kit makes this sound like a full length feature.

The website for the project includes loads of video and a gimmicky extended trailer that you can only see with two cell phones but that aside, this is actually looking really fantastic.

Beyond the Wave is scheduled for release this summer.

Let's be realistic - We're all going to skip to the hardcore part and only watch it for a few minutes.

They might as well cut the rest of the film.

For some reason I was expecting this to be an unofficial sequel to The Last Wave. It does not appear to be.
