Director David Karlak is on the brink of being the next big deal. Think Neill Blomkamp pre-District 9.

Karlak has been developing a feature length script for Rise at Warner Brothers but the process has been slow so on the side, he's been working on a short version of the Rise film as a way to convince the studio to greenlight the feature. Karlak has relied on friends and favours to independently produce the short and now he needs to raise some funds to complete post-production on the project so he's launched a Kickstarter to raise the remaining $20,000.

A sort of new take on Blade Runner and A.I., Rise is the story of "sentient robots that are targeted for elimination after they develop emotional symmetry to humans and a revolutionary war for their survival begins."

The script was written by Marcus Dunstan and Patrick Melton (of Pacific Rim and God of War fame) and stars Anton Yelchin and Rufus Sewell.

If you're as impressed as I am by few clips of the short presented in the pitch video, you might want to shoot them over a couple of bucks.

A little bonus: Karlak's impressive short The Candidate is also included below.

I will support it!!

Careful of JewWood as they do go through and read and change scripts for the film if there not part of the agenda. In the end they will create stupid low class action films out of any smart Scifi.
