Marina Antunes [Celluloid 05.23.14] action video game

Just in time for the long weekend, Machinima has unleashed a little something to keep you busy for a few hours: Street Fighter: Assassin's Fist.

We first found out about the webseries last year when director Joey Ansah launched a crowdfunding campaign and though ultimately unsuccessful, the team wasn't down for the count and now, just over a year later, the series has arrived online.

Starring Mike Moh as Ryu and Christian Howard as Ken, Street Fighter: Assassin's Fist follows the two characters as they grow up and train together like brothers and how the last part of their training breaks them apart.

I expect that if this series does well we might get some more Street Fighter action from Ansah and team and from the hour I've invested so far, the series is looking really great. The acting is a bit bland in places but the training sequences and effects are really fantastic and far better than anything the studios have put out based on the franchise. Here's hoping it does well enough to warrant a follow-up. It'd love to see some of the other characters developed or heck, even a full blown Street Fighter movie. I'm not sure how that would work. I just really want to see a live-action Chun-Li.
