The first time I watched Ruggero Deodato's Cannibal Holocaust I was a little traumatized. I've only seen Deodato's movie in bits and pieces since that first viewing – even though I own the DVD which I had to order sight unseen from a less than reputable guy. Judging from screen caps, the version I have is a little worse than some of the other editions kicking around out there but for those who really want their cannibalism and turtle slaughtering in pristine form... prepare your wallet.

Grindhouse Releasing has announced that they'll be releasing a deluxe, 3-disc edition of Cannibal Holocaust. The new edition will be the edition for superfans as it includes a new high definition digital restoration of the uncensored director's cut, a new digital stereo re-mix along with the movie's original mono mix, commentary tracks with director Ruggero Deodato and stars Robert Kerman, Carl Yorke and Francesca Ciardi, in depth interviews with Deodato, assistant director Salvo Basile and cameraman Roberto Forges Davazati, as well as classic interviews with Robert Kerman, Carl Yorke and composer Riz Ortolani.

If that's not enough there are also liner notes from ubberfan Eli Roth and horror journalist Chas Balun, still and theatrical trailer galleries and a bonus CD containing the newly re-mastered original score by Grammy winner and Academy Award nominee Riz Ortolani.

The Cannibal Holocaust special edition will be available July 1 and is already available for pre-order.
