Marina Antunes [Celluloid 04.17.14] Australia post apocalyptic thriller

The first trailer for David Michôd's The Rover suggested some deep rooted personal drama unfolding in a post-apocalyptic world of chaos and confrontation. Basically, it was looking spectacular.

The newly released trailer, celebrating the movie's upcoming Cannes debut is just as gorgeous and bleak as the first and while it hits on the same scenes of the teaser, it expands those familiar snippets to include more of the story and dialogue rather than simply Guy Pearce's monologue. It's a thing of quiet and brutal beauty, the story of a man so desperate to keep the memory of the past alive that he endangers his life to retrieve his last possession and along the way, it looks as though Pearce's Eric becomes the unlikely father figure to Reynolds (Robert Pattinson), one of the gang members whose gang took said possession.

Beyond its Cannes debut, The Rover opens in New York and LA on June 13 and expands nation wide June 20.
