A couple of year ago, news surfaced that one of the largegst cult film series of all time would get a sequel. We haven't heard much about that long awaited new entry into the Phantasm series but it looks like a sequel isn't only on the way – it's almost here.

Earlier today a poster and trailer arrived for Phantasm V: Ravager and it looks as weirdly awesome as you might expect. Series regulars Angus Scrimm, Reggie Bannister, Michael Baldwin, Bill Thornbury and Kat Lester are all returning but Don Coscarelli is not. Instead, director David Hartman is taking over the reigns but with all of the blessings and support of Coscarelli who met Hartman on Bubba Ho-Tep. Hartman also handled the effects on John Dies at the End (review) and as Coscarelli tells Entertainment Weekly, "our aesthetics are in sync and he's quite an experienced director in his own right."


So prepare yourself for the awesomeness of Phantasm V: Ravager which, at this point, doesn't yet have a release date.

Can't wait to see this. Looks they went old school with the music and upped the violence .
