An interesting new project is brewing in the UK care of writer/director Mark Aston and Joyrider Films. The short film, titled Pathfinders, sounds (and looks) like a great new entry into the alien invasion canon - or more accurately, the aliens trying to save humanity from itself playbook.

The official synopsis talks about meteorites falling to earth and a single man waiting to see what they mean or what they may be bringing with them.

Seven stars, seven continents, seven days. Meteorites have crashed into the oceans off every continent on Earth. A lone man waits on shore for the entities the fallen stars deliver. Over the next seven days a perilous journey ensues as the mysterious and powerful beings race to save humanity from itself.

It certainly sounds interesting and these first stills from the short are impressive. If that's not enough, the filmmaker is in the process of adapting the short into a full length feature and possibly TV with producer Spencer Friend.
