It was only a matter of time before the Paranormal Activity franchise spawned another potential franchise and to be quite honest, considering that the movies have started to blend together, I'm far more interested in seeing Paranormal Activity: The Marked Ones than the new instalment of the franchise which is scheduled for release in October 2014.

Word on the street is that The Marked Ones was initially conceived as a completely separate entity from the original movies but considering that the trailer makes mention of characters in the other films, its clear that the initial plan has been scrapped. The story here is that of a man living in a predominantly Latino neighbourhood of California, who comes into contact with a demonic entity, perhaps the same one from the franchise movies.

I don't expect anything groundbreaking from The Marked Ones but I have enjoyed the Paranormal Activity formula and this entry looks like it hits all the same marks but with a slightly new flavour.

Paranormal Activity: The Marked Ones opens January 3, 2014.

This is the second international installment of the series, actually. They've already done one in Japan as well.
