Okay, so we were less than enthused with last week's Stranded, but with Scavengers, starring Sean Patrick Flanery (The Boondock Saints) out today on DVD and VOD let's give it another go!
Synopsis:
The starship Revelator's crew of deep space scavengers have just discovered something...an alien artifact of mysterious, unimaginable power capable of threatening the balance of the known universe. Fiercely pursued by a rival crew of mercenary killers, who know what the life-altering device can do, the crew fights to protect not only the artifact's missing pieces, but find themselves battling for their lives and the very future of the universe itself.

Looks like it was filmed almost exclusively with a macro lens (aka way too many closeup shots when they should be pulling back a bit.) Nonetheless, I love sci-fi, so I'm going to watch it. I'll report back my findings later

In Germany this one was released a couple of months ago, and I was shocked how crappy every damn aspect of this movie turned out. Way bad animation - Asylum has better visuals and superior compositing. They weren´t even able to mask their green screens properly! The screenplay is booooorinng and slooooooooow. The actors mimick that slowness.
This movie is crap. Even more crap than "Stranded"
I don´t know, but I get the feeling that most of the recent cheaper SciFi-movies turn out to be total turds, and this trend seems to continue. No imagination, no innovation, no nothing.
Sad.

A few things:
(1) It's damn near impossible to find a legal streaming site for this movie.
(2) I agree with Fox. The CGI is early 90s-era video game bad. Unfinished, woefully unsynched with the camera movements or lighting direction. The "good guys" are all pretty with makeup on, the "bad guys" are full of dark makeup and unstable manson-level badness. The main bad guys broods and threatens like a cheap knockoff of a bad imitation of a chinese clone of a Bond Villian. Yes, he's that bad.
I made it to 21 minutes before shutting it down in disgust. The basic plot might be interesting, but it's buried under such bad fx/acting/writing/dialogue that I will never know.
FWIW this film has a 3.2 rating on IMDB...not good

Who are they making these turds for? Whoever you are, please stop watching/buying them so we can get a little quality control.
