Marina Antunes [Film Festival 07.30.13] Taiwan thriller

I love the concept of Chung Mong-Hong's thriller Soul, the set-up for which sounds a little like Invasion of the Body Snatchers.

Ah-Chuan randomly collapses at work one day and wakes with no memory of who he is, what he does or who the people around him are. He's sent home to be with his family who he also doesn't recognize and as his father tries to figure out what is wrong with his son, things start to get murderous. Ah-Chuan doesn't talk or act like himself and to make matters worse, dead bodies start to pile up. Whatever has taken over Ah-Chuan's body seems to have a lust for killing.

The trailer is beautifully dark with an air of menace, thanks in part to the music, and suggests a slow burn thriller with the occasional splash of blood (or guts as seems to be the case).
