Marina Antunes [Celluloid 07.31.13] Canada horror

Here's something timely: a horror movie about social media turning people who use it into raging psychopaths.

Cody Calahan's Antisocial unfolds as a group of college friends gather to celebrate the New Year. Unbeknownst to them, the world outside is falling into collapse and when they finally discover that the world is going to shit, they find themselves locked inside with cell phones and other gadgetry to monitor the unfolding chaos outside.

As the virus spreads, the mood in the house changes from fear to paranoia. Who is safe? Who can they trust? Reality becomes blurred as they slowly discover the source of the virus causing the sickness...and there is no going back.

It's a great concept, especially in today's tech climate where nearly everyone is connected through social media and it looks like Calahan and his team have kept nothing back. This looks like a bloody descent into chaos and annihilation.

Antisocial is scheduled to premiere at Fantasia.
