Marina Antunes [Cathode Ray Mission 01.22.13] United Kingdom comedy thriller

If for no other reason, I love British TV for its short run mini-series, four or six episode shows that tell a cohesive story and aren't dragged on for months or years on end. One of the more recent offerings is Dennis Kelly's "Utopia."

Starring Stephen Rea and Nathan Stewart-Jarrett (of "Misfits" fame), the story follows a group who is in possession of a manuscript for a cult graphic novel that is rumoured to have predicted the worst disasters of the last century. Soon the group find themselves the target of an organization that is known only as The Network.

Our reader Dan who was kind enough to bring the show to our attention, says it's a "surreal black comedy conspiracy thriller/horror series, that comes across like a cross between David Lynch and the cult comedy Spaced (although very violent)."

Sounds like an interesting bit of entertainment and with only six episodes slated, the first of which has already aired, this sounds promising. Hopefully they'll wrap the entire thing in the allotted time. The last thing I need is another "The Fades" which was cancelled before it had an opportunity to really dig into the story.
