Marina Antunes [Celluloid 01.07.13] thriller drama crime



It's not much but at this point, I'll take whatever we can get of the Ryan Gosling and Nicolas Winding Refn reteam Only God Forgives.

Starring Gosling as a gym owner who has to take out his brother's killer, the story takes place in Thailand's underground kick-boxing circles and the brief leaked video suggest more of the stylish violence which Refn is partially famous for. Kristin Scott Thomas also stars as Gosling's mother.


It's going to be a good year for Gosling with Gangster Squad set for release later this month, The Place Beyond the Pines, in which he plays a motorcycle stunt rider considering committing a crime to provide for his family (the trailer suggests good things), is due later in the year and now this Refn re-team should prove for a great Gosling triple bill.

No release date yet for Only God Forgives but hopefully this leak means we'll see a full trailer and a release date in the coming weeks.
