quietearth [Celluloid 08.08.12] drama



This is what I imagine the Electric Kool-Aid Acid Test would look like. That is, without the horrendously forced writing masquerading as gonzo journalism. Girotondo was Davide Manuli's first film and Venice Days, one of two autonomous sections of the Venice Film Festival, will be showing the directors cut as part of their lineup.

It's no secret Manuli is one of my favorite directors. I love his experimental absurdist style even with his constant use of house music. Check out his other films Beket and The Legend of Kaspar Hauser.


Angelo is an orphan who grew up with a nomad woman. He reacts to his pain over the death of his best friend for overdose, thanks to the encounter with Serena. She survives being a prostitute, but she has not lost hope. Angelo moves along an axis of characters in a desolate and poetic day without end.
