Christopher Webster [Celluloid 07.24.12] post apocalyptic apocalyptic book scifi horror adventure

There's been talk of a Y: The Last Man movie and television series for a while now, but beyond hiring some writers there's been no real movement on the front. Thank god for the passionate fans who produced this solid 20 minute ode to Brian K Vaughan & Pia Guerra's wonderful comics series.

Synopsis:
Based on one of the most critically acclaimed comics of all time. A mysterious plague has wiped out all men on the planet, and women are left to pick up the pieces of society. The only surviving man is Yorick, an amateur escape artist who is the key to the continual survival of the human race. Special Agent 355 is tasked to protect his life at all costs. Luckily, she’s really good at her job…

IGN and Drake 1129 Productions are proud to present this new short film, made by super fans of the comic. It covers the initial plague that kills any mammal with a Y chromosome (except Yorick and his trusty monkey companion, Ampersand) and an awesome fight between Agent 355 and a fanatical group of Amazons.

Nice effort reminds me of those cheeze sci-fi shows on sci-fi.
Isn't on the same level as 28 days later. But has some potential.
I guess if they wanted to do better job and pitch...Kickstarter?
Actors are doing a decent job.

I think that's the best fan-made film I've ever seen. I was disappointed when it ended, I really wanted to see what happened next. It wasn't perfect, but it avoided the pitfalls of most fan-made productions (shots held too long, overly long scenes, excessive dialogue, etc.) It was tight, well paced, with great production values, good special effects, and decent acting. Well done.
