While I'm proud to be the first film site on the planet to bring you the trailer for Pascal Laugier's The Tall Man, I'm sorry to say it looks like shit. He cast Jessica Biel. For real? This is why we don't have a review from SXSW. I didn't add it onto our must see list.
When her child goes missing, a mother looks to unravel the legend of the Tall Man, an entity who allegedly abducts children.

Shitty, indeed. Not sure if I'm happy or sad that the Hellraiser remake was cancelled.

Is it just me or has Hollywood moved onto ripping off internet memes now?
Cause this sure seems like a knock off of the Marble Hornets / Slenderman arg / message board urban myth.
And we also got a horrible politically correct race-bent version of Epic Beard Man with the oh so creatively titled Bad Ass.
Plus Safety Not Guaranteed is based on that copy pasted old time travel want ad of the same title that went around the net.

To be fair, someone on another forum said none of those are done by Hollywood studios.
True.. So after it gets hot indie films knock off internet memes.. then Hollywood is gonna get to making them. There we go.
Though this looks far less paranormal than the Slender Man arg / myth. Unless there's some twists. Though the trailer does seem to give away 3/4 of the film as usual.

Thank goodness.

I just watched it. But, it is like watching the entire film in 2 mins'. Trailers should create mystery. This one hands you the film on a plate.

I hope there's more to it than what's in the trailer otherwise you're completely right. Disappointed.

Here's a french subtitled version on YouTube. Apparently it's called "The Secret" there.

I heard from Mitch at Fantasia that there were a few genuinely good moments in this film, but yes it does look a bit daft!

With all due respect, the lovely Ms. Biel has a demonstrated talent for *not* being able to act her way out of a High School play. I can't wait to see what she's going to do to the Melina character in the remake of Total Recall.
