Christopher Webster [Celluloid 04.11.12] apocalyptic scifi horror thriller drama

Here's a super slick looking new project that looks like a must see for QE readers. It's called Dust and it takes place in a world that is rapidly changing where new species and adaptations constantly alter the balance of their ecosystems.

Dust was filmed on location in Shikoku, Japan.

Dust takes place in a world that is rapidly changing. Each year new species and adaptations alter the balance of their ecosystems. Throughout history Trackers have studied shifts in the environment and taught people to live in harmony with the natural world.

With the advancement of technology people’s views began to shift and the Tracker ways were abandoned. Now a deadly new plague linked to a mysterious dust is devastating the countryside around Kabe—the world’s oldest city.

Very interesting premise. It's like the game world of eXistenZ run amok, a few generations later. I just hope it isn't all background/worldbuilding.

The devil is in the detail and this director surely gets it in his scenery photography.

The premise is interesting I have much more faith in independent film makers than in the majors. That said there is no mention of the screen writer and who wrote the screen play that worries me.
