Marina Antunes [Celluloid 09.20.11] movie apocalyptic news action

You may remember a few years ago we posted some footage from After the Fall. At the time, we didn't know what the footage was for and agentorange compared it to Albert Pyun's work. That video has now been taken down but we have a little more information about that mysterious project.

Turns out After the Fall is a short film Randolph Scott made while still in film school. While working on adapting the short into a full length feature, Scott established Cyber-Scan Films, a production company which over the years has been picking up a bit of freelance work while also producing some in-house entertainment and though the dream started with After the Fall, over the years, the film has fallen by the wayside. Not for long.

Late last week Cyber-Scan announced that After the Fall's pre-production has been pushed into high gear with shooting scheduled to start in 2012. Along with this new rush of energy, the film has been re-envisioned as a three film franchise which Scott is set to direct and which also happens to have a new synopsis.

When a cancer patient named Samantha is placed in cryo-stasis, asleep until a cure for her illness is found, her world is forever changed. She is discovered and re-awakened in the middle of a post-apocalyptic future war by a ragtag group of US resistance fighters. Samantha now
finds herself in a dangerous world that has been reduced to concrete ruin by an enemy invasion.

With no hope of ever returning to the life she once knew, Samantha joins the resistance in their mission to change the course of the war. Facing an army of darkness, bio-engineered war creatures, and a US government doomsday conspiracy, a simple girl with an incurable illness
must find the courage to help the survivors of this fallen future create a new dawn
.

The project sounds promising and the concept work Cyber-Scan has been developing certainly looks great. I'm hopeful they can get the film off the ground so we can see the vision which has been brewing since 1993. Until then, you can check out some of that concept work at the official website.
