Christopher Webster [Celluloid 07.18.11] movie news gallery art

Just as I'm sure you all do, I read a lot of movie blogs. However I also read a ton of magazines. A lot of them are about film, but some of them are cultural or tech related. One of my favourite movie magazines right now is from the UK. It's an independent publication called "Little White Lies" and they first caught my attention because of the amazing cover art that graces each issue. The covers really jump off the shelves. Imagine my surprise when what was written inside was equally as engaging.

The magazine is published bi-monthly and usually hones in on one film per issue, which is why the cover art is as it is. But there are also a ton of reviews and interviews to boot.

To be honest, I'm not sure if the covers are designed in-house, or if they are user submitted. Perhaps a little more digging will shed some light on that. I've posted a gallery of some of my favourite covers from issues past below.

The only thing that blows is that issues of Little White Lies sell out fast and most back issues are gonzo so you can't even order them. The good news? Because they're also so awesome, LWLies has put all their issues online and you can read issues for free through Issuu.

I would recommend checking out the Attack the Block issue. It features interviews with Joe Cornish and Duncan Jones and is all about British Scifi.

Just as an aside, the other print magazines about film I read religiously are Sight and Sound, Rue Morgue (hey Dave) Empire and Script. What do you read?
