One of the big buzz generators coming out of ComiCon was the indie alien abduction film Skyline. The write up certainly made it sound like something not to be missed and it turns out that Greg and Colin Strause’s film looks pretty spiffy too. Don’t believe me? You don’t have to.
A teaser trailer for the film has just gone live and it certainly looks promising. I’m a bit concerned about the writing, when someone needs to clarify that aliens are from outer space I can’t help but cringe but otherwise, it looks pretty wicked. Particularly the closing scene which is a little chill inducing.
Trailer after the break.

Got my attention. Love the very last scene. Blood bath...

It's a weapon of mass abduction!

Hope they will get nuked the same way like in Independence Day

Now THIS is cool. I'm very surprised. I thought this would end up looking lame, but it looks like it has potential. Is Rogue making a comeback?

ReplicA (10 years ago) Reply
It does look cool, and I'm gonna see it for sure, but I'm disappointed. A lot. Actually, is this the movie that was teased a while back with the people in a small aircraft flying through the clouds, they couldn't see the ground, and there were tentacles everywhere? If it is, then yeah, I'm disappointed as hell. If it's not, then nevermind :D

ReplicA (10 years ago) Reply
Can't edit post so I'm posting again. The film I was thinking of was called "Altitude" not Skyline. So I can't be disappointed!! YAY!!

Lovely. Except the cheap blue smog effects.

realitycheck (10 years ago) Reply
well, forget them "getting nuked like they did in Independence Day", shich was a movie by idiots FOR idiots...waste of great FX...aboout time we get some sci-fi that has just a touch of realism for a change...hate to bust your bubble but if aliens with the ability to travel the vast distances of space ever do arrive here, we are NOT going to win...period...

from the idiots just letting you know
We won in Independence Day

Chronos (10 years ago) Reply
Looks interesting, especially that last shot with the mass of people being lifted into the air.
I thought this was a 'proof of concept' trailer though! This trailer is a blatant copy of the first Transformers teaser - same sound effects, same lens-flared titles, same sort of opening type, same overall edit.

"someone needs to clarify that aliens are from outer space I can’t help but cringe"
It's a news broadcast and therefore written for delivery to the lowest common denominator, especially given the context that, in the USA, 'illegal immigrants' are referred to as 'illegal aliens'.

looks cool except "stephen hawking, arguably one of the smartest people on the planet, warned of the possibility of aliens from space"
hahaha that was some seriously shit writing

I know he actually said that. I believe it has to do with we search out life in outer space but do we truly want to meet what we search for. Then it's a case of were only a type 1 planet and we will run into a type 3 were likes ants to people.
It all makes sense.
