Christopher Webster [Celluloid 11.26.09] post apocalyptic trailer news scifi drama webseries



For the past 180 days, Joel has been living alone. He ran away from the city after a massive cataclysm rocked civilization and has now found shelter in a lodge where he tries to eke out a life of basic survival. 180 days of harsh Canadian winter? Sounds like my life for six months of the year. Now this is an apocalyptic vision I can relate to.

Time Out (or "Temps Mort" in its native land) is a French Canadian web-series that I'm sort of surprised slipped by us this summer. Ten episodes have already gone live and while I haven't watched them all, so far I'm really liking the quiet drama and the icy cinematography.

Synopsis:
In 2013, a cataclysm takes places. Electricity fails and suddenly snow begins to fall. Joel leaves Montreal and finds refuge in the countryside. Having only a notebook to draw, he tries to hold on to his sanity and to what he has left of humanity...

What would you do if winter never ended? If all you ever knew was gone for good? If death was just behind you everyday? What would you do if the world took a time out?

This is a realistic depiction of how the ordinary person would react: fear, desperation and irrationality. Slow but steady storytelling.

Yes winter is 6 months long, but this winter started in June (Juin 2014).

It reminds me of the novel "Snow", in which an alien snow falls on Earth and keeps falling, until cities are a kilometre under it and survivors are numbered in the hundreds.

thank you for this article on our webseries and thanks for all your comments, it's fun to read what you think.

To answer ''radio1'', there are subtitles. You need to activate them on the play by clicking on the menu button down right corner.

As for duration of winter, the ''day 00'' happened in early september 2013, the snow started to fall the very same day... so far, it's just early in the season, but it continued, and it started to be freezing cold outside and people were not prepared. When they thought that spring was coming, snow continued, same thing at summer...

So on the calendar of july 2014, it's almost a year after the cataclysm. No explication, just what the main character knows.

Mille Bravos messieurs. C'etait vraiment bien fait. J'ai hate d'ecouter la deuxieme saison. Ca me fait penser de Quebec et les mechants hivers la-bas. J'habite dans le meme coin, alors je connais bien vos hivers.
