While I don't understand the fanboy-ism surrounding Gens, I can say I liked Frontier(s) even if it was weak on the script, and now word is that Xavier will be commencing principal photography on his next project in February of 2010.

The film is a post apocalyptic action thriller set in New York, but he's shooting in Eastern Europe. Written by Karl Mueller and Eron Sheean, The Fallout is described as a thriller that combines elements of’Assault on Precinct 13 with Lord of the Flies in a story of survival


Synopsis:
A high concept thriller that opens with pandemonium and a chaotic sprint towards the basement of a New York apartment building, just moments before the city outside is decimated…

When a cataclysmic explosion devastates New York, eight strangers take refuge in the basement of their apartment building, a converted fallout shelter designed by their paranoid superintendent Mickey. With just three connecting rooms it’s barely big enough, but with stockpiles of food and water, the group are at least safe from the horrors outside, and they settle in and attempt to fathom the catastrophe that has ended the lives of so many of their loved ones.

But suddenly men in HAZMAT suits storm their shelter and open fire. The strangers join forces in a desperate bid to take on this enemy, with no one understanding what these HAZMATS are looking for and what drives them to be so merciless.

With fatalities on both sides and the remaining HAZMATS temporarily pushed back and locked out, the worst is yet to come for the group. Cabin fever sets in as the perception of the shelter shifts from safe-haven to claustrophobic rat-trap. Fear of radiation-poisoning and dwindling supplies play on their minds, while the young, beautiful Eva has more immediate worries… Her fiancé Sam is weaker than the other males, who are slowly starting to regress into ruthless, violent, predators.

As tension mounts their sanctuary becomes a living hell, and with Sam powerless to protect Eva, she must rely on her wits to save herself from becoming the mercy of the pack in a thrilling final act.

With twists and turns throughout, and no way of knowing who will make it out alive, The Fallout is an action packed psychological thriller that combines Assault on Precinct 13 with Lord of the Flies. To survive the end of the world, you first must survive each other...

Hmm, not sure I trust in this after witnessing Hitman: The Movie. Still, sounds like a pretty interesting project.

PA is a totally a genre, too many films to mention in there.

PA is a genre, at least it is Sci-Fi, as apposed to all the horror that makes it on this site and places like the SyFy channel. I think that is way they changed the name so they could show all that horror that didn't fit the genre of their station. HORROR ISN'T SCI-FI!!!!

I have to agree with Lenman Horror is not Science Fiction, but I think they get lumped together for convenience sake by people who don’t understand either genre. I believe PA could be a separate or sub genre of Science Fiction depending upon the piece. One of the reasons I like Post Apocalyptic, and Apocalyptic fiction (Yes I do believe there is a difference and I do separate Post Apocalyptic from Apocalyptic) is it is so flexible, from all the Zombie books and movies, to Fail Safe, to One Minute After, On the Beach, to War of the Worlds. Some people may argue some may be horrified at Zombies being in the same sentence as Fair Safe but I think it shows the flexibility and richness of both genres.

A/PA is a subgenre of science fiction. Or speculative fiction, because I suppose there could be *fantasy* PA. There's overlap with zombie and horror and various other subgenres.
