#1: Surrogates gets posterized!

#2: Resident Evil: Afterlife in 2010?

The webs exploded with news that director Paul W.S. Anderson would be getting a new Resedent Evil flick into theaters by September 17, 2010. The 3rd one was the only one I've enjoyed so far so I hope they keep going the heavy PA direction. [via: filmonic]

#3: live action Star Wars begins production in Australia?

#4: Gilliam kills Zero Theorem

Word is that Terry Gilliam has canned production on what was to be his film after Dr. Parnassus, the heady scifi film Zero Theorem. I guess he wants to do Don Quixote instead. [via: /Film]

#5: Jack Kerouac's "Big Sur" heading to the big screen

This news made quietearth cringe so I thought I'd spare him the nausea and post it here. Kerouac Films, who produced the documentary, One Fast Move or I'm Gone: Kerouac's Big Sur, are once again producing. No one is yet attached to star or direct but it's listed on IMDB with a 2010 release date.

#6: Shane Meadows to direct horror flick "Beware the Devil"

Said Meadows to Empire Magazine:

“It’s based on a book of the same name, based on the life of a guy who, by getting involved with Ouija boards and the occult by trying to disprove it, trying to take the piss out of it, got possessed, had to be exorcised, and later became an exorcist himself. The guy it happened to has died, but his son’s a novelist, and he helped him turn it into a book before he passed away, and now I’m working with him to turn it into a film.” [via: Dread Central]

#7: REC 2 opening Sitges scifi fest

Jaume Balaguero and Paco Plaza's "Rec 2" will open the 42nd Sitges Intl. Film Festival of Catalonia, Europe's biggest genre film festival. [via: Variety]

#8: Paramount gets "Hellified"

Besides having a dumb title, "Hellified" is known to be a supernatural action movie involving a journey to hell. It's being produced by Lorenzo di Bonaventura who produced Transformers 2. [via: THR]
