quietearth [Celluloid 06.18.09] movie trailer apocalyptic news

Ok, so it's Roland Emmerich but as usual, the effects are stunning, and this is Quiet Earth so you know we love destruction on a global scale. On a side note, while I like Cusak I don't think he was a good choice for this.

According to the Mayan calendar, the world will come to an end on December 21, 2012. When a global cataclysm thrusts the world into chaos, divorced writer and father Jackson Curtis (John Cusack) uses his knowledge of the ancient prophecies to ensure that the human race is not completely wiped out.

UPDATE: You'll also find the film's international trailer after the break. It's not in English, but it shows some different footage so it's worth a gander.

Emmerich owns these kinds of movies now. I will love every over-the-top second of this movie.

Not a big fan of the "worlds going to end 2012" movement... but I think I'll be checking this movie out. It looks like a good ride. :)

I like PA movies, however, those are better, in my opinion, which has some reality, like an atomic war, or those which have a good story. Well, I hope the movie will be a bit better than just a stupid CGI-filled "the-world-crumbles-without-any-real-reason"... First, think about it: how could a destroyed people make new calendars? They could make a movie about the Roman Empire's last calendary day, too. In that, the world should be end in 900-1000...

I just HOPE it will have a good story and not made to be yet another stupid movie.

not to be confused the 2010 or 2046.

John Cusack is not what I think of when I hear "action-apocalypse movie" either, but neither is Jake Gyllenhaal or Matthew Broderick....
