quietearth [Contests 04.14.09] contest dvd horror

Sorry for the delay folks, but here's the winners:

Mark Hanlon, London, UK
William J Farrell, Brooklyn, NY, USA
Jeff Trent, Rio Ranco, NM, USA

I'll be sending em out soon! Those in the US will be getting their packages via fedex.

All right folks, my 2nd favorite film of last year is getting released this coming Tuesday March 31st, and to celebrate the occasion we have a total of 3 dvd's (region 1) to give away. I can't recommend this film enough, in fact I'd call it one of the best horror films ever and I'm betting it will reach serious cult status (review), so if you can't wait, you can pre-order it here, but if you want to enter the contest:

- Send email to contest [at] quietearth.us
- Make the subject line "Cthulhu contest" or it gets chucked in the trash
- Put in your name, full address and country. The DVD again is region 1 but the contest is open to the US, Canada, the UK, Europe, Australia and New Zealand.

The contest ends at midnight GMT on Friday, April 3rd, so good luck!

A Seattle history professor, drawn back to his estranged family on the Oregon coast to execute his late mother's estate, is reacquainted with his best friend from childhood, with whom he has a long-awaited tryst. Caught in an accelerating series of events, he discovers aspects of his father's New Age cult which take on a dangerous and apocalyptic significance.

You can watch the trailer after the break.

looks good... but aside from a few things, I don't see much of a lovecraft connection, let alone anything "cthulhu-like". wtf?

I don't know what movies you're watching, no offense, but I sought this out on your recommendation and I thought it was horrible. Slow, terrible dialogue, pointless, and disjointed. The lead was good, but just a steaming pile of shit overall....

Just netflixed it and I can tell you that it is an utter waste of time. Doesnt work on just about every level. Perhaps its impossible to make a good lovecraft adaptation.

I would tend to agree with the last two posts, very disappointing that's two hours of my life I will never get back...
