Christopher Webster [Celluloid 10.01.08] post apocalyptic movie news

In the wake of the currently economic crisis going on in the States right now, I wouldn't be surprised to see the concept of an "economic meltdown" becoming a staple of the PA genre in the very near future. News of The Strawman comes courtesy of our pals at 24fps who've only managed to dig up the teaser poster you see to your right and this quick synopsis; In the wake of an economic meltdown, the government declares martial law on its citizens and enslaves them. A handful of survivors set out to save their country. Still, I find the plot both original and intriguing so count me in. Are we seeing a resurgence of Australian post apocalyptic films, ala Daybreakers and Last of the Living? Let's hope so, and please, no more mad max ripoffs!

Please no Wickerman ripoffs either.
The poster is intriguing enough....a dead bull on Wall St. perhaps?

"Last of the Living" isn't an Aussie movie, it's an indie out of Kiwiland.
