Way back in February, news that writer/directer Rob Green would be tackling Dog Soldiers 2: Fresh Meat was the talk of the trades. As a massive fan of Neil Marshall's original flick, I joined into the conversation and reported on it then as well, but after doing some follow-up research I noticed that the film has been erased from basically every film resource. It no longer has a page on IMDB, and the film has even been removed from director Rob Green's list of projects. Can we assume that DS2 is languishing in development hell, or is it dead? We of course contacted Green's management to find out more, but until we hear a definitive word on the matter we're going to go ahead and mourn the loss of a potentially great flick.

Thank god it's not being made, the last thing a true dog soldiers fan would want is some septics to make an awful sequel (which is what any american made sequel would be).

Lets be honest our movies kick serious fucking ass. Now Skipping the whole Britt Bashing And American Bashing...The Movie should be British Made With American Actors Playing SF and British ACtors Playing Cpt. Ryans Team who survived only to be werewolves. Cooper needs to return and survive again and SAM! But I can only hope this movie is made..I been waiting and waiting..Oh yea I served with Royal Marines Overseas So respect to the Brit Military. Cheers And Lets Get Pissed

i have to agree with the last post, although i was disheartened to see that a sequel is unlikely, a US-ified sequel would have been tiresome, predictable and painful to watch.
I reckon somewhere Scandinavian, say somewhere in Finland in winter which has all the tensions of its Russian border could be a similarly isolated setting

erm dont even think about doing a number 2 tbh 1st one is perfection its self and shouldnt be ruined by a sequel

I am so bummed that Dog Soldiers: Fresh Meat didn't come out. :( I have been waiting since I first saw Dog Soldiers for a sequel and when I heard the rumor I was so stoked. I love Kevin Mckidd, and I understand that ROME took him away and all but COME ON!!! I need Seconds!!!!

Anonymous (12 years ago) Reply
I'd love to see a new DS come out, but not if its done by the Americans. The first Dog Soldiers was good because of its gritty quality, its location and its believability (apart from the werewolves, the film was very believable)
However, an Americanization would throw all that away in favour of guns, bad British accents and explosions.
If the film does emerge, I'd want it to be like the original; dark, faintly comedic and be a British horror flick. Not a GI Joe explosion-filled failure.

Frazer Dale (12 years ago) Reply
Yes to a sequel but please not an american one!! It needs that British style, grit and realism.

Danny (11 years ago) Reply
The second film was supposed to be about the American Special Forces team that is mentioned in the first movie. I didn't think that it was going to be an American made film as much as British film with Brits playing american soldiers.

Anonymous (11 years ago) Reply
I actually liked the plot line of Americans getting tore up with the same actor from the 1st movie saving the day with another Brit soldier... oddly enough I was hoping all the Americans would die and only the dog and the main actor living again. (reason whys its odd ... im american)

The day Dog Soldiers 2 is made is a sad day indeed. For one thing it would ruin the good name the first one created. There is NO NEED for a sequel. Why can't moviemakers of today leave things alone and let them be good. They seem to insist on milking ideas till people are bored of things. Piss off with the idea of a Dog Soldiers 2. Don't try and fix what isn't broken. The first one is pure class so it is. Dog Soldiers 2 from what I have been reading is like 28 Weeks Later [amercanised crap] and that is why the original will always be superior.

Geordie Girl (11 years ago) Reply
I am a massive fan of Dog Soldiers. I understood that it had actually been visualised as a trilogy so when The Descent came out although loved the film was slightly disappointed that Dog Soldiers 2 hadn't followed. Was I wrong in my understanding of a trilogy? I know you can never better the original, just look at American Werewolf, but there is still a call for a bloody good werewolf film and Neil Marshall hit it on the head when he released Dog Soldiers.

Anonymous (11 years ago) Reply
I heard back on that big horror movie database, forget the name currently. That the original script writer of dog soldiers had wanted to write two more movies featuring cooper. Though the remaining two would be about him fighting vampires and zombies, basically a different token horror movie monster in each film.

HK (11 years ago) Reply
It was really nice to see a non-american movie that managed to give a sinister and original zombie/warewolf feel to it without any help from overwhelming, epeleptic CG-effects. instantly a classic. as much as it pains me however, i must agree. the last thing this movie needs is a follow-up. the main reason is that there is no way to make another movie with this name that would do the first one justice. i understand that fans want moore, but there is no more to give.

Geordie Girl (11 years ago) Reply
Thanks anonymous for finding out that info for me. It has been driving me nutso knowing there was supposed to be a trilogy. I suppose they couldn't possibly better Dog Soldiers and it can stand alone. I suppose I just feel that at the moment we are falling short of some serious good horror movies where you laugh, scream and pee your pants all at the same time. Those were the days!!!!

Greetings from the USA!
I want you all to know you're morons. Idiots. Ignorant buffoons, take your pick. First off, Dog Soldiers two was NEVER going to be an American film. As far as I know, not a single American actor was going to be in the film at all. And, if that pile of feces, "The Bunker", is anything to go by, DS2 would have sucked anyway just by having Rob Green's name attached to it.
You see, just like The Bunker, Dog Soldiers 2 would have featured nothing but British, English and Scottish actors delivering performances based on your head-up-ass interpretations of us Americans. This would include that old British favorite: The bigoted, ultra-patriotic, trigger-happy, dumb-as-nails redneck.
Someone called "28 Weeks Later" "Americanised crap"....Last time I checked, the US had almost nothing to do with that film, there were only two American actors that held any kind of importance to the story, and the director was Spanish. Here's a newsflash, dumbasses: Just because it features American military units doesn't make a movie American! Especially if the "American" soldiers are actually British/English guys that have dropped their accents!
I love how you people blame America when movies made by YOUR countries suck balls. The idiocy displayed here is staggering. Once you people so much as see the word "American", the stereotypes start flying. You don't bother to find out if the US actually has anything to do with it, and thus you look like retards for rambling about something that doesn't really exist(an American Dog Soldiers movie). But please, don't listen to me. Just keep those exceptionally thick craniums of yours shoved way up there in your own anal cavities. You give people like me a good laugh every now and then.

tariqxl (2 years ago) Reply
Actually I think an Americanised Dog Soldiers might have had potential. Whether thats American soldiers coming over on training as they often do, or an American clan/pack in America. And if 28 weeks had been Americanised, the infection breaking quarantined and hit America may have had similar potential also.

Cyst (11 years ago) Reply
No, wait, that's not The Bunker I was thinking of(even though it sucked ass). I was thinking of a crappy Indie film I saw at a festival last year. It featured a cast of European no-name "actors" playing a squad of American "Marines", which was made entirely out of walking stereotypes. It looked like they had a lot of fun trying to "out-redneck" one another. I don't know what was more offensive, the fact that they showed that film to an American audience, or the fact that they apparently thought we wouldn't notice the blatant disrespect.

Anonymous (11 years ago) Reply
we really need a sequel, the 1st was fantastic but without a 2nd it just doesnt seem as good as it would be with a 2nd. So just film the 2nd, itd be really really really nice.

You are all idiots.
First of all, Dog Soldiers doesn't need a sequel! I was a great film by itself. A second one is most unnecessary and making a sequel would just be utter bollocks.
Second of all, stop arguing about how films are made. American or British it doesn't matter how good they are. The point is the two are known for how they are made. Typically Yes, American films are flashier and more actionized, and British films are made to be Grittier and more down to earth. What is preferred is up to the viewer. In the end it won't matter which one you like better.
I beleive that if they do make a sequel (and i sincerely hope to god they don't) it should be made by the same people, or at least mimicked in the style. After all there is nothing worse than an unneeded sequel is an unneeded seqel that is completely different than the first.
Stop whining faggots.

Did anybody ever stop to think that maybe the reason they stopped producing it is because imbeciles like half of you are complaining that "Americans shouldn’t do it, Britain’s should" and all of the bickering is KIND OF THE REASON!??!
And one more thing:
Why come and post something on this post and not want the movie to come out? If you have no business here..why waste your stinking time!
If the movie comes out, it comes out. If you hate it, that’s your problem. Don’t come online and complain about it to people who actually care about the movie and want to see it.! It takes a lot of money to produce a single movie, so you should be happy that they even made a first Dog Soldiers for our entertainment. Now shut the hell up.

Unpatriotic (11 years ago) Reply
I'm American, and I have to agree with the Brits. 99% of American films made today are popcorn laced crap because most people within these shores have the attention span of a gnat. And why wouldn't other countries stereotype us? We elected a certified idiot to the highest office in the land - TWICE. Our youth are, by and large, uneducated, uncultured and uncouth and the preceding generations aren't much better.
As far as Dog Soldiers is concerned, the film was perfect. Frankly, I hope they leave it alone. Though most don't realize it, "The Howling" is also a great werewolf movie, but the umpteen sequals afterward certainly tarnished its reputation to a great degree.
I'd love it if Neil Marshall made another horror flick with the same cast (not a sequel to DS), but I won't hold my breath.

Just like World of Warcraft, Chris Hansen, Twilight, Superman vs. Goku, Dragonball AF, Mudkips, Heath Ledger, Harry Potter, Naruto and the Internet.
Why so serious?

The sequel should be done like Reign of Fire. Get a mixture of American and British special forces and throw them into the mix. A joint training mission would be the perfect setup. I'm an American and loved the first movie. I wouldn't want to stray too far from that forumla. The characters were excellent, even though I had to watch the movie about 5 times to figure out what they were talking about. ;-)

Now I would just like to clear a few things up with the so called patriotic Americans that seem to think we make Sh*tty movies and really cant understand why we have a problem when there is a slight hint that the sequel to one of our classic new age horror films could possibly be Americanised, well its quite simple, This is basically a Military film and basically we dont want any friendly fire in the movie you bunch of inbreeding, your auntie,s your sister as well as your niece, ball munching Bumders, theres nothing friendly in being shot even if it is from someone on your side, it hurts just as much. As for the film the 1st one was a masterpiece if they make a 2nd 1 then please try and leave out the American titty lickers, its just not british. I would just like to add one last fact, there are more lesbians per 1000 in America than anywhere else in the world so before you have ago at us brits take some time to try and figure out the female population, In a bit.

Why on Earth are y'all so hateful & spiteful towards each other? Are you so bored in life that you must go online and spit venom at others for your entertainment?
The British have never made any action films that can come close to such classics as "Die Hard", and American television will never approach the likes of "Monarch of the Glen". But the Brits have made plenty of damned fine movies over the years, and, judging from the popularity of "Dallas" in Britain, apparently Hollywood can do watchable TV as well.
You aren't likely to see Kevin McKidd in a DS sequel, since he's currently too busy in Hollywood (Grey's Anatomy). So it's unlikely that a sequel will be made according to the original plotline. Too bad, but all good things must end.
And you people need to get a life and quit hating each other so much. Personally, I'm unemployed, and have nothing better to do than browse the internet all night.
What's your excuses?

dog soldiers is the best british horror film ever.i really do hope that DOG SOLDIERS 2 will eventually be made.however if it does happen i don want the director/producer to change anything.have the film starting where the origional left off with a second unit drafted in to find out what happend in the area.(use the same plot as in the thing video game)so the scenary should be set in the same location (luxenburg) just like the origional stick with a british actor to play the lead role and maybe even have american actors to play the rest of the squad.also keep the werewolves the same as they were in the origional just because they were absolutly spot on.

mark brotherston (10 years ago) Reply
maybe even have a mixture of nationalities in the squad as in the film OUTPOST.the mixture of brittish accents and cultures made the origional so brilliant.so in the sequal maybe have an AUSSIE,AFRICAN,AISIAN,EUROPEAN,AND AMERICAN ACTORS just as long as the lead role is played by a british actor KEVIN MCIDD was sensational in the first film so maybe if he was willing to do a sequal then he would be first choice if not then certainly choose another scottish actor to keep the scottish connection with the film!!!!

Dog Soldiers really wasn't good enough to warrant this level of flaming, was it? I mean, sure, it was entertaining enough to watch a time or two (I'm an American, a veteran, but not one of those dim-witted flag-wavers who views my country as inherently superior to every other nation on the planet). I actually own the DVD. I enjoyed Outpost and got a chuckle out of the stereotypical redneck ex-Marine mercenary on the team hired to help recover the secrets of Die Glocke. I also enjoyed The Bunker. You folks need to realize that not everything in the way of film coming out of the US are glitzy, special effects-laden high budget endeavors. Maybe those of you who are being a little judgmental about American film should dig a little deeper and take a look at films like Moon, The Objective, and The Jacket (just to name a few). To those who are being judgmental of Americans overall, let's not forget that we have a long history of cooperation and alliance. Let's not forget the two World Wars, Korea, Afghanistan, Iraq, and the Lend-Lease Program that kept Britain afloat during the darkest days of WWII. We Americans owe the bulk of our culture to what our forefathers imported from where else but Great Britain! That being said, I certainly can appreciate the differences British film (and TV, for that matter;Dr. Who, Torchwood, Primeval) offers. DS was an entertaining film, and I'm disappointed that I won't be seeing a sequel from any production team from either country.

First off everyone talking shit can shove their heads deeper in their arse because nobody gives a flying fuck about you or your opinion. secondly I loved the first one. just gritty enough to be good. but sometimes its better to let sleeping dogs lay. I have seen too many movies where the first wass a great idea and a good movie, then its all turned to shite from pompous assholes out to cash in on a good idea. I am afraid that if the 2nd is made then I will lose all respect for the first flick. toss the entire thing in the bin I say.

I think british film makers are great at making a good horor. take a look at ch4's 'dead set' tv mini series, based on zombies and big brother, amusing, scary and worth the air time. DS was/is a classic werewolf film, the way the werewolves were portrayed in wolf and human form, is great, IMO. a sequel would have been good, I wasn't keen when i first heard it was to be set in the US, mainly because it would lack the british persona but if it was to be a carry on from DS, where kevin was setting off back to civilization and US forces were sent out to be the next live meal, like the first, then i think it would have worked. Wouldn't be as good as the first one, as we already know what will happen but i am sure it would have been good either way. We lack a good british horror film and i hope in the future, producers/writers etc, look back and use DS as an example on 'how to make a good film'.
stop the bickering people!

I think the movie should be made in Somalia, or one of those war/famine/hell torn countries. Make it one of those dark tales that show no matter how horrible people think they can get, there is always something worse.
Maybe that will make all of the idiots posting racist garbage on here have an epiphany about their bigoted, hate-filled lives, and they'll eat a bullet and quit posting stupidity on posts like this.

Hi
in Dog Soldiers 2002 nobody talks about the family of werewolves
Who are they?
I see in the picture a great-grandfather, two grandfathers, a man and a blond girl with brown hair

To F, the werewolves were the people in the picture, if you listened closely when the girl was explaining to Cooper while he was looking at the picture they've lived up there for centuries. Obviously they mated and had werepups, but yeah i'm so bummed they're not going to proceed with this, I read the plot and its a good one beginning where they left off the special forces team waiting for them and a guy from Ryan's squad. However if you saw how the first one ended Cooper was in a newspaper...was that before he met up with the US special forces or was that supposively the ending???? Either way Rob Green make the bloody movie mate! Its different its unique and idk bout everyone else but if ryans soldiers still remember there training as werewolves making them stronger faster and smarter well then that sounds like a good fight...and so what if the US soldiers had high grade weapons, coopers squad had MP5s pistols a shotgun and another rifle of some sort that jammed...so much for them being the under dogs, and when all ammo was perished they fought for their lives especially Spoon, that guy had me laughing.

the film was good, but would have been a lot better if the wolfs did not look so crap and false, underworld werewolf's least look the part, i was hoping for DS2 fresh-meat just to see if the Americans get to shoot the wolfs before they shoot each other first, just a thought because we know how trigger happy they are,
im not being racist, just saying how it is, the truth,

I agree with all of you but it wouldn't be any good because all of the good character like wells and spoony are gone now it would just tarnish the good name of dog soldiers

Give us Dog soldiers 2. I'm sure it will be awesome! But bring back Cooper as a Sgt, leading a new platoon!

Funny seeing a young(er) Liam Cunningham (aka Davos from Game of Thrones) in Dog Soldiers as Captain Ryan :D
Absolutely love this movie. It's kinda in the same league as American Werewolf in London and The Howling. A B-Movie classic! Either way, it's just an absolute brilliant 'werewolf' movie.
Brilliant in it's own right but IMHO deserves some kind of sequel. Will probably never happen but hey, we can dream right?
