Overview:
Hmm, I am wondering how to explain such an epic. The story revolves around Tex Kennedey's run for political unity and the chair of Vice King of the New America. This is half movie/half history channel style documentary of the "new" founding fathers, of which Tex Kennedy is the leader and main character. Along the way he has to fulfill prophesy by getting the King Benny, defeating the threshold of hell, and broadcasting the message of the New America. All of this is in a post-nuclear America with Benny's sociopathic cousin chasing them, and talking to the "sad sac's" that inhabit the land. "We've got a solution for that!" in true political form. And yes, he is a real descendant of the Kennedy clan.

"Tex"
The Story:
The president, played by Janey Seymour, comes on air and it's the year 2075. America has been rained upon by nukes, killing over 300 million people. 17 of the largest cities have been hit. She has lost all hope. The transmission ends and shows a "Suntroke Corporation" logo after some nuking, one of many small details in the film. (More on this in the radio interview)

"One of the historians"
Just over 1 million people lived by shutting themselves underground for over 20 years. One of these was Tex Kennedy, an orphaned member of the clan. Yul and Quincy are robots, and are programmed to stand by and protect Tex. They had been built in the year 2042 and were assigned to protect the then president Randall Carter, but they failed (he got whacked), so they were scorned and spent the next 19 years drinking until they got a new mission. That mission was to protect the young orphaned child, Tex Kennedy. When the end of old America arrived, Yul and Quincy secured the 7 year old Tex underground, and spent hours fighting of attackers until the first bomb went off.

By this time it was too late, because opening the bunker would have meant certain death for Tex, so they spent the next 20 years waiting outside. Tex grew up alone, the only real parent being that of the radio broadcasts from Clark Remington, the self-proclaimed King of America. Clark layed down the whole prophesy of who would be his successor as King (his nephew Benny) and what would need to happen for the New America to begin. When Tex emerges from his bunker in 2097, the race for sociological power began.

The Rating:
I have to put a number to this so it's an 8, but it's such an indepth story with so many different comedic styles, I really don't know how to categorize this. Based on watching this and getting to interview Kevin Wheatley, this could produce 20 spin-offs with the amount of layers in it. And they are good layers, like a vidalia onion, not those cheap yellow ones. I would reccomend going to see it, not just because it's a great flick, and it's post apocalyptic, but it could very well be the basis of a tv series and other media forms for many years to come.

To be honest you need to watch this movie more then once to get all the details, so I would reccomend adding it to your collection. Luckily it comes out on DVD in January.

In case you missed it, our radio interview with Kevin Wheatley is here but there was a time mixup, so it doesn't actually start until 15 minutes into the broadcast.

Would have been nice to see it. Here in Chattanooga Tn and Hixson Tn the copies were screwed up and we didn't get to watch it. Night totally wasted. I wonder how many other places were like that. Just as well, only 4 of us showed up to watch it.
