Thanks to mobious_99 for pointing this out, I already knew about it but wasn't sure about posting it, now I am. This is out of Spain, and more specifically Barcelona, and while it looks like a zombie movie, we're just not sure. It has something to do with a virus, but the movie looks incredible. I can't seem to find a release date or a movie homepage, if anyone has anything, please let us know.
Here's the synopsis:
"Angela is a young reporter for a local TV channel and goes around with her cameraman every night in search of different collectives of people. Tonight they’ll be covering the local firemen and she secretly hopes for an opportunity to capture the story of a great fire.
But the night remains very calm. When they finally receive a call from an old lady who is trapped inside her house, she has no other choice but to follow the firemen and cover their “rescue missionâ€. When they arrive, the see that the neighbors in the old lady’s building are very frightened. They have been hearing horrifying screams from inside the old lady’s apartment.
The firemen break down the door of the apartment and are followed by Angela and her cameraman. They find the old lady semi-conscious and surrounded by dozens of cats. Suddenly, the old lady jumps on a fireman and starts to bite him like a wild animal to the astonishment of his colleagues… and also right in front of the camera lens.
It’s just the beginning of a long nightmare and of a uniquely dramatic report never seen before on TV: when the other firemen take away their wounded colleague, they discover that the only exit in the entire building has been blocked by the authorities. The building has been quarantined. Apparently, a strange virus has spread inside the building."
Here's 10 stills from the movie at Filmax International. Just click on "Stills" on the left.

I watched the film yesterday. IT WAS INCREDIBLE
It¡s like resident evil (not the film, the video game...) it's simply incredible, everdybody on the cinema was really afraid...
You can't find a homepage because i think they haven't got one... it's a not very expensive film and they have not a lot of money...
I think, somebody will make a remake of the movie for USA

I just watched this movie last weekend and all I have to say is.....SCARY! This movie takes the Blair Witch Project and Cloverfield concept in that you are watching a video taped event. It starts out with a young reporter doing a story about the local fireman and what they do in a typical night. However, things get downright horrifying when they respond to a violent disturbance in a large apartment building. Once they eneter the building it is discovered that some type of virus has infected some of the residents, turning them into crazy zombie like monsters. The building is quarantined and the firemen and reporter remain locked inside the building. The rest of the movie deals with them trying to find a way out while dealing with the zombie invasion. The explanation of the virus is NOT at all what you will expect and the last 15 minutes of the film are very terrifying. All is all, this is one of the best horror films I have seen in a while...

This film was utter garbage. Possibly the worst film that I've ever seen (apart from blair witch project 2). There were too many illogical twists and too many parts that made you jump. The main actress was hot though. I give it 1.5 out of 10.

"dis movie was da bom . i got ****in scared i hpoe dey have a second called rec 2"
typical idiot.
also, its being re-made for the american market, aimed at people who "dont go to the movies to read subtitles"
pfft.

I need to talk about it (12 years ago) Reply
I was just wondering ... Why didn't the cats attack the rescuers? Didn't they get infected as well? Weird. I guess that's enough blood for this one, though. I personaly didn't watch the whole of it, I bravely remained quiet in my seat to impress my boyfriend ... It was hell, I hurt my fingers holding my hands over my ears and my eyes hurt like hell. But I guess it means it is a real horror movie and it would be such a shame if they ever made an "americanized" version of it. I found it was already as good, if not better, as an American production.
Whatever, I just hope there'll be an REC 2, a happy one. Indeed, How do they intend to eradicate this plague? "that is the question...". they could, I don't know, get back to the man who worked on the virus for example, maybe he actually found an antidote and they assault the appartments with massive weapons and they lived happily ever after....
Sorry, that was long but I needed to talk about it .... Was funny .... At times ....

agentorange (12 years ago) Reply
Well the good news is that there will indeed be a REC 2.

This movie is stupid because it copied of quarentine and that movie was terrible because you could not see a darn thing and the end sucked. I am so upset i was 3 days to find this movie.

Angela (11 years ago) Reply
Personally, I thought the only TRULY scary part was the last 15 minutes. But, it was a very good film, just not as scary as people said it would be. I can't wait for REC 2!
Here's the trailer for it!

Saw this movie for first time tonight on SBS in Australia. Totally had me, best of believable SFX and story line of any such movie. Great actors and fantastic timing. Just hope I don't have to many nightmares tonight.
