Marina Antunes [Cathode Ray Mission 08.08.20] drama mystery

If you haven't already watched "Utopia," you have to hit pause on everything else you're watching and get on that right this second. It's weird and creepy, and conspiracy-laden and just one of the best things I've ever seen on TV. It remains to be seen whether Gillian Flynn's re-imagining will be any good but that's beside the point.

The point is that writer "Utopia" creator Dennis Kelly is back with another mysterious-looking show: "The Third Day."

The six-part limited series stars Jude Law as Sam, a man drawn to a mysterious island where time appears to move at its own pace and where the locals are obsessed with keeping their traditions. In the second half of the series, Helen, Naomie Harris, a woman also looking for answers on the mysterious island.

The series also stars Katherine Waterston, Emily Watson, and Paddy Considine.

It's impossible to decipher exactly what's happening here as the trailer is pretty mysterious and Kelly's work is not exactly easily condensed into a neat little package. However, it looks fantastic, features a great cast, and doesn't require 121 episodes for a conclusion.

"The Third Day" premieres on HBO on September 19.
