Marina Antunes [Cathode Ray Mission 11.19.19] China anime scifi animation

For the last few years author Cixin Liu has been at the forefront of Chinese science fiction. The celebrated author's "Remembrance of Earth's Past" trilogy is well regarded both at home and internationally with the first book in the series, "The Three-Body Problem," having won the Hugo Award for Best Novel in 2015. Now the author's work is getting a small screen adaptation.

Announced earlier this year and currently in production by YHKT Entertainment and Three-Body Universe for Bilibili, a Chinese video-sharing website, the show will cover the first book in the trilogy which tells the story of scientist Ye Wenjie and her attempts to attract an alien society to Earth.

The 24 episode series is due to premiere in 2021 which is still a long ways off but a trailer has emerged, appropriately enough, on Bilibili, and it looks visually impressive. Chinese VFX and animation has seen a vast improvement over the last few years with work that visually, matches almost anything made elsewhere in the world.

Liu has a lot of fans and cache in the West so it's quite likely we'll have a chance to see this in North America.

Great novels - shame it's not live action.

Second. It was a great novel. And this doesn't look particularly good. I guess from a western prospective I want to see this story get a big budget treatment. Oh well. The story is quite thick with I think 5 books now.
