John Connor [Celluloid 10.18.17] post apocalyptic scifi action adventure

In the 1980's, when it came to post-apocalyptic android movies, no one made more than Albert Pyun. From Omega Doom (review), Knights (review) to my personal favorite Nemesis, this was a genre Pyun seemed to own, and Cyborg is like his Citizen Kane.

I've always dug it and now Shout! Factory are releasing an all new Collector's Edition on January 30.

Jean-Claude Van Damme stars as the future's most fearsome warrior in this adrenaline-charged sci-fi thriller.

Deteriorating from a deadly plague, 21st-Century America is descending into a barbaric nightmare. Only Pearl Prophet (Dayle Haddon), a beautiful half human/half cyborg, has the knowledge necessary to develop a vaccine. But during her quest to gather data and bring the cure to the world, Pearl is captured by cannibalistic Flesh Pirates who plot to keep the antidote for themselves and rule the world. Now, only saber-wielding hero Gibson Rickenbacker (Van Damme) can rescue her and save civilization.

Shout! Factory have not yet released details on the special features, but I'm hoping we'll get a commentary because years ago I almost talked Pyun into recording one that we would release exclusively on Quiet Earth. And by god he almost did it!

Recommended Release: Cyborg blu-ray (MGM edition)

I wonder if it will contain the material he released a while back as director's cut? I have not seen that.

That director's cut is available on Region Free blu-ray from Europe.

Looking at it, there is a commentary track!
