Christopher Webster [Celluloid 03.29.17] scifi adventure



STXfilms have released a BIG new trailer for VALERIAN AND THE CITY OF A THOUSAND PLANETS, Luc Besson's highly anticipated return to science fiction.

Valerian and the City of a Thousand Planets is the visually spectacular new space adventure from Luc Besson, director of The Professional, The Fifth Element and Lucy, based on the ground-breaking comic book series which inspired a generation of artists, writers and filmmakers.

The film stars Dane DeHaan and Cara Delevingne along with Clive Owen, Rihanna, Ethan Hawke and many others.


Synopsis:
In the 28th century, Valerian (Dane DeHaan) and Laureline (Cara Delevingne) are a team of special operatives charged with maintaining order throughout the human territories. Under assignment from the Minister of Defense, the two embark on a mission to the astonishing city of Alpha-an ever-expanding metropolis where species from all over the universe have converged over centuries to share knowledge, intelligence and cultures with each other.

There is a mystery at the center of Alpha, a dark force which threatens the peaceful existence of the City of a Thousand Planets, and Valerian and Laureline must race to identify the marauding menace and safeguard not just Alpha, but the future of the universe.



Valerian opens this summer, July 21.

Looks colorful and wild but the two leads have no gravitas at all and have have the appeal of a pair of vacent turnips.

I won't spoil the story for you.
But when there is millions of creatures the only that matters is the one right next to you.

It looks as wild as I imagined this director vision would be.

Damn they put that silly Satanic RnB star in there!!! arrrg!

all that I am worried about is this:
Please GOd don't have any singing!

I know it's going to be crazy and I am going to be there when it's in theaters, but damn I am paranoid there is going to be singing in this film!

I guess I should look up the composer. Same as 5th Element?
