Marina Antunes [Celluloid 01.12.17] United Kingdom scifi thriller

I like unconventional superhero stories and Adam Randall's new movie certainly looks like it fits the bill - I just wish it had a better title.

iBoy, yes, that's *actually* what it's called, is based on a book of the same name and stars Bill Milner (Son of Rambow, X-Men: First Class) as an awkward teenage boy who has a crush on a girl played by Maisie Williams (Game of Thrones).

She invites him over to hang out and in a case of wrong-place-wrong-time, is shot by a group of thugs. He survives the ordeal but fragments of his cell phone lodged in his brain have tweaked something and now he seems to have some sort of x-ray vision along with some other extrasensory abilities so of course, he tries to use his powers for good - with mixed results.

It's a neat concept and the special effects certainly look snazzy enough but what I'm really liking about this trailer is the performances though admittedly, the concept is also pretty neat.

It's just that unfortunate title...

iBoy will be available to all Netflix markets on January 27.
