Marina Antunes [Celluloid 08.12.15] scifi action

The last few years has seen a number of proof-of-concept projects being picked up for production and it seems the trend continues and the latest project to meet that fate is The Garden.

Co-written by Aaron Strongoni and E.B. Rhee and directed by Rhee, the story here is a sci-fi retelling of John Milton's "Paradise Lost." What I can't figure out is how Milton's story fits into this one which, according to the description, "follows a group of explorers who set out into deep space in search of a new home for humanity after they learn that the sun is dying."

That all said, the project does sound interesting (if familiar) and Rhee has created a cool looking alien design and a number of impressive visuals with a very limited budget. Polly Johnsen certainly sees potential. The former WB president of production has signed on to produce the project via her Polymorphic Pictures in hopes of kicking off a new sci-fi franchise.

Planet is earth. Only two survivors are Adam and Eve. So they gonna have plenty of children who are going to have sex with one another. Happy ending!

Yea, I think Milton's Paradise Lost got rewritten out of existance into a completely different story which has nothing to do with the fall of Lucifer.
