The big question about this current crop of news in which a "The Dark Tower" adaptation is a go is: can we trust it? This project has gone through so many iterations and been on and off so many times, I'm not convinced it's actually going to take off this time around though most entertainment news sites seem to believe that this time, for whatever reason, it's for realsies.
Since we last touched on the production, the project has gone through a couple of iterations including a series only approach, a movies only approach and even a Netflix series but they've all fallen through. In large part, the problem with the project is money – no one wants to be on the hook if the project bombs and judging from the commentary that erupted when the deal was originally announced, that's certainly a real fear. The other issue? If you screw up the first movie, you're likely to kill any hopes of any sort of additional project based on the material for years and considering how long the project has already been kicking around, no one wants to burn the branch completely.
There are some good news here. The current incarnation of the project sees it back as a set of movies with a companion TV show - though it seems the studio has only signed on to the first film.
Better still? Ron Howard has moved from a directing role to simply producing.
The big problem? Akiva Goldsman and Jeff Pinkner are still behind the script though it sounds like they've re-worked it since the project was originally announced.
Stay tuned King fans. I'm sure there will be much more to come.

I just don't think it's going to happen. Mainly for the reasons stated above. Even if the these guys had a good script there to many instances of studios screwing with s good script and birthing a nightmare. Also if the DT is to done as a movie or a TV show it needs money. Season two almost killed the Walking Dead that I believe was about saving money. Apart of me hopes they don't do it because they'll just screw it up.

the dark tower is sexy.
Stephen King is awesome and I just hope they do it right.
They need to do it. Somebody does.
Stephen King should direct it, hes an excellent director.
I just dont know, maybe I need to discuss this matter in a skype conference call with all of the female posters on quiet earth so I can better get to the bottom of things with this issue. ;-)
