quietearth [Celluloid 12.02.14] post apocalyptic horror action thriller

Tom Hammock’s post-apocalyptic thriller The Well had a fairly successful festival run, but since Marina didn't love it at VIFF, it makes me think it'll likely be a bit old hat for die-hard PA fans.

Here we have our first good look at the film with the release of its International trailer. It will eventually see released by Dark Sky Films down the line, so we'll keep you updated when we can see more.

At the edge of an expansive barren valley, all that remains of The Wallace Farm for Wayward Youth is a few hollowed-out husks of buildings. Seventeen-year-old Kendal (Haley Lu Richardson) can barely recall when the Oregon valley was still lush. It’s been a decade since the last rainfall, and society at large has dried up and blown away. Kendal and the few others that remain barely scrape by, while dreaming of escape. When a greedy water baron lays claim to what little of the precious resource remains underground, Kendal must decide whether to run and hide or bravely fight for the few cherished people and things she has left.

The films stars Haley Lu Richardson along with Booboo Stewart, Jon Gries, Nicole Fox, Michael McCartney, Michael Welch (Twilight), Rena Owen, Max Charles, Jacqueline Emerson (The Hunger Games), Barbara Crampton and Michael Massee (Seven).

The film looks entertaining enough but can't we come up with new "end of the world" scenarios that don't involve droughts and the magical loss of all the worlds water? Even if global warming is caused or sped up by man it's going to cause more water due to melting ice not less water... not everywhere at least.
